OFFERED JOINTLY WITH AFRAM 350 PLEASE NOTE UPDATED CLASS TIME AND ROOM CHANGE: T/TH 4:30- 6:20PM AT THO 135 "BLACK POWER, SEX WORK, AND 'QUEERS': HISTORICAL APPROACHES TO BLAXPLOITATION FILM." THE COURSE CRITICALLY EXPLORES 1970 FILMS LABELED AS 'BLAXPOLOITATION". STUDENTS ARE REQUIRED TO READ CRITICAL ESSAYS THAT HISTORIZE FILM DURING THE 20TH CENTURY. WE WILL HEAVILY INTERROGATE HOW THE GENRE CONVEYS MEANINGS AROUND GENDER, SEX WORK, SEXUALITY, AND RACE.
