May 19, 2021 @ 10:30am Michelle Habell-Pallan, UW Department of Gender Women and Sexuality Studies and Yesenia Hunter, Heritage University: Rockin’ Community Trust: Womxn Who Rock: Making Scenes, Building Communities
This event is sponsored by the University Libraries (Research Commons and Open Scholarship Commons), eScience Institute, West Big Data Innovation Hub, iSchool, Learning Technologies, and the Department of Geography.
Research is rarely performed in isolation, or wholly within the bounds of the university. Back for its fourth year, the 2021 Going Public event explores the overlap between research, activism, and advocacy with a special focus on building trust with communities outside the university.
Join us for two days of talks with community leaders and researchers, plus practical workshops that will help you build skills to create social change through advocacy, engage with a broader audience, and showcase the importance of community-engaged research. Registration is free and open to anyone.
