The International Latino Book Awards recently awarded GWSS alum, Dr. Martha Gonzalez, the gold medal for her first book, Chican@ Artivistas: Music, Community, and Transborder Tactics in East Los Angeles. According to the judges, Dr. Gonzalez's book is a "great discography of Chicana Feminist Music [and] could be a great documentary."
