We are delighted to announce that Professor Amanda Lock Swarr has received the Honorable Mention for the Distinguished Book Award from the Section on the Sociology of Sexualities at the American Sociological Association. Her groundbreaking book, Envisioning African Intersex: Challenging Colonial and Racist Legacies in South African Medicine, critically reevaluates historical narratives surrounding intersexuality in South Africa, debunking longstanding claims dating back to the 1600s and shedding light on overlooked perspectives.

Congratulations to Professor Lock Swarr on this well-deserved honor!
